부모란 존재

 

 

 

영화 인터스텔라를 보면서

"부모는 자식의 미래를 위해 유령같은 존재"라는 말에는 괜히 가슴이 찡했고

딜란 토마스의 詩를 들을 때는 전율을 느꼈다.

 

자식에게는 유령같은 존재가 될지라도

부모는 자식들의 미래를 위해서 분노해야 한다.

나이 먹어 편히 노년을 보내며

삶을 마감할 생각 대신에

우리 자녀들의 미래를 어둡게 하는

세상의 모든 불의에 대하여,

빛이 죽어가는 것에 대하여,

끝없이 분노하고 싸워야 한다.......

늙은이들은 자기의 날이 끝날 때 불 지르고 분노하라.

분노하라.

분노하라! 빛이 죽어가는 것에 대하여.

결국에는 현자들도 어둠이 옳음을 알게 되지만

그들의 말이 아무런 섬광도 보여주지 못했기에

그들은 얌전히 편안한 밤에 들지 않는다.
